END OF THE WEEK

What we accomplished
This week Mr. Martin told us that for our mid-term we would need to come up with a visual explanation of our robot challenge, either by video or by power point. We chose to do ours with a power point, and this week we started our power point. Also this week, we finished both arms and started programming them to work.
 Our arms both attached.

START OF THE WEEK

What we plan to accomplish this week
we finished one of the two arms and we plan to attach the other arm and put them both on our robot and hopefully we can have them programmed by the end of the week.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!
Love, The Super Saiyan Squad

This was a very short week this week, because Thanksgiving break is this week.
Our goals for this week were to build both arms of our robot, but so far we have only managed to build one.

START OF THE WEEK

Goals for the week:
Our goals for this week are to finish building the arms of our robot, Our robot is designed to have two functioning arms and since there is on two day this week, our goal is to finish one arm today and the other arm tomorrow.

This is one of the arms in the works
And hey look! It's Tequilla!! Haven't seen her in a while!

End of the week

We had to change our robot challenge, just one last time. We are going back to our original idea, which was robot basketball, but we have decided to make the game ball a beach ball. So the concept of the game is basketball that will be played with a beach ball.

On another note... We got a care package!! Mr. Martin gave every group what we like to call a "care package". It was a box that has a list of brand new parts that we are allowed to use for our robot. Including a new brain, new motors, and a brand new controller.

There was a problem with our new motor's wiring but with the help of a fellow classmate the problem was taken care of.

These are the new motors that we were given :DDDD

Start of The Week

We came up with a new robot game. The game is similar to the arcade game; Skii ball.
A robot is to collect a ball, and launch it through hoops and the more difficult hoops equate to more points that a team can earn. However, unlike normal skii ball the hoops wont be on a flat surface, they will be stacked vertically in a pyramid. Each team will have 90 seconds to score as many points as possible. Each time the robot shoots a ball it has to be at least 3 feet away from the hoops.
This is us dismantling our previous assembled robot.

end of the week

It's the end of the week, and on Monday we were told that we had to change our game. We have come up a couple of ideas that have not really been solidified yet. One being robot kickball and the other being robot billiards. Nothing is set and stone yet and we have to get everything approved by Mr. Martin. At the end of this week we have accomplished one big thing, we completed oui new gear ratio and our robot finally operates properly!!

This is the final gear ratio that we used that successfully moves our robot.
This is our robot in action!

Start of The Week

Start of The Week

Today Mr. Martin told our group, The Super Saiyan Squad that our idea is unoriginal because we have already done a robotic challenge that is similar to the one we had planned. He told our group that we could either change our game around to be like actual basketball, meaning use an actual life size basketball or we could change our game.
Because using an actual sized basketball would be entirely too hard we decided that we would just come up with a new game.

Our goals for the week are to come up with a new game plan and redesign our robot to play the new game.

This is Garret and Tyler thinking of a new game to play
This is our gear ratio as of now, we are going to change the other side now and hopefully our robot will work

end of the week

What we accomplished

We changed the gear ratio that we planned at the beginning of the week
we came up with a new mechanism to pick up racket balls.
We still need to figure out why the robot won't move the way we want it to, we have tried new motors bu we'll see if it's the gear ratio next week.
This is the new mechanism we built to pick up balls.

Start of the week

MONDAY

Goals for the week:

  1. Our main goal was to try new motors to get our robot to move because our previous motor was too weak.
  2. Change the gear ratios to see if that was the issue as to why our robot wasn't moving.
This is our old motors and gear ratio that isn't quite "cutting the mustard"

The new gear ratio that we are implementing on our robot

Happy Halloween from the Super Saiyan Squad!

At the end of this week we have accomplished two things on our robot. We refurbished and finalized our gear box and we have finally finished our robot arm and attached our ball scoope to the end of our arm.

Start of the week

Monday 10/27/14
Last Thursday,  a Co-Founder of the Super Saiyan Squad was removed from our group, his name is Andrew Leacock.
Andrew is a great kid, a very smart kid and an important member of our team. It's a shame that we will be without Andrew for the remainder of this year but he will be remembered by the Super Saiyan Squad.

In other news: we got new vex parts in today and we are looking forward to playing with our new shiny toys!!!
Our goals for the week are to finish the arm for the robot and to make it function properly.

Goals for the Week

Our Goals for this week are to finish building our robot arm. Then we are going to program our robot to get it ready for competition.

END OF WEEK 3

Week 3:
For this week we finished building the structure for our arm, and began the construction of the actual arm itself, next week we plan to finish the entire robot, and have it programmed for competition.

This is the finished structure of our arm.

BEGINNING OF WEEK 3

Week 3:

We are beginning the week with the construction of our robot's arm, we have finished the chassis and the drive train, now it is time to build the arm of the robot.
Goals for this week are to finish the arm of the robot.

This is the main column for the base of our robot's arm.

END OF WEEK 2

Week 2:

We finished off the week by finishing the chassis and drive train of our robot.
Now next week we can begin the building of our arm mechanism that we will use to pick up the racket balls and score on our opponent.

Chassis/Drive Train

Week 2:

We began the week by distributing the parts the we organized equally to all the groups.

This is what each team was distributed:
2 small motors
2 big motors
14 collars
4 small gears
2 big gears
multiple miscellaneous metals
1 brain and 1 crystal
1 controller
2 motor controllers

Our goals for the week were to build a chassis and a drive train, so that next week we can begin the construction of our arm.

Disassembling and Organizing

Week 1

Friday 10/3/14:

After making our teams and setting up our games, it is now time to get started!
We begin on our new challenge by dissembling our old robots and organizing the parts so that on Monday we can distribute the parts to the group evenly.

The groups join together and work together to get all the VEX parts disassembled and organized.

Now that is all organized and put away, on Monday we can begin the distribution process.

Robot Basketball

Week 1:
Tuesday 09/30/14

ALL NEW TEAMS AND ALL NEW GAMES!

The first task at hand was to come up with a game or robotic challenge that as a class each group would have to compete in.

For our group we decided that we wanted to come up with a game that was similar to basketball... two robots would be given a basket on their side and the goal is to score more racket balls into the opposing goal than the opponent's can score in your goal.

The rules will be:

  1. 90 second time limit
  2. Can not pass the border line that surrounds the buckets
  3. Can not hit opponent robot INTENTIONALLY
  4. Limit of 4 motors
  5. limit of 20 gears
  6. 3D parts DO NOT count towards limit
  7. limit of 18 collars
  8. robot must be 18x18x18 at start
  9. You can only hold 4 balls at once
  10. 2 on 2
At the end of the game decision making period we came to a conclusion as a class, that we would all participate in the game that our group came up with.  Now the main goals of the week are to begin disassembling our robots and organizing the parts so that we can begin with our new robots as soon as possible.
This is a diagram of what our game will look like.
