end of the week

It's the end of the week, and on Monday we were told that we had to change our game. We have come up a couple of ideas that have not really been solidified yet. One being robot kickball and the other being robot billiards. Nothing is set and stone yet and we have to get everything approved by Mr. Martin. At the end of this week we have accomplished one big thing, we completed oui new gear ratio and our robot finally operates properly!!

This is the final gear ratio that we used that successfully moves our robot.
This is our robot in action!

Start of The Week

Start of The Week

Today Mr. Martin told our group, The Super Saiyan Squad that our idea is unoriginal because we have already done a robotic challenge that is similar to the one we had planned. He told our group that we could either change our game around to be like actual basketball, meaning use an actual life size basketball or we could change our game.
Because using an actual sized basketball would be entirely too hard we decided that we would just come up with a new game.

Our goals for the week are to come up with a new game plan and redesign our robot to play the new game.

This is Garret and Tyler thinking of a new game to play
This is our gear ratio as of now, we are going to change the other side now and hopefully our robot will work

end of the week

What we accomplished

We changed the gear ratio that we planned at the beginning of the week
we came up with a new mechanism to pick up racket balls.
We still need to figure out why the robot won't move the way we want it to, we have tried new motors bu we'll see if it's the gear ratio next week.
This is the new mechanism we built to pick up balls.

Start of the week

MONDAY

Goals for the week:

  1. Our main goal was to try new motors to get our robot to move because our previous motor was too weak.
  2. Change the gear ratios to see if that was the issue as to why our robot wasn't moving.
This is our old motors and gear ratio that isn't quite "cutting the mustard"

The new gear ratio that we are implementing on our robot

At the end of this week we have accomplished two things on our robot. We refurbished and finalized our gear box and we have finally finished our robot arm and attached our ball scoope to the end of our arm.

Start of the week

Monday 10/27/14
Last Thursday,  a Co-Founder of the Super Saiyan Squad was removed from our group, his name is Andrew Leacock.
Andrew is a great kid, a very smart kid and an important member of our team. It's a shame that we will be without Andrew for the remainder of this year but he will be remembered by the Super Saiyan Squad.

In other news: we got new vex parts in today and we are looking forward to playing with our new shiny toys!!!
Our goals for the week are to finish the arm for the robot and to make it function properly.
